We have heard your concerns and we think we have a better option for our middle school teams in and around the Knoxville area. We want to build a more efficient and properly managed program where we focus on development of players/teams and maximize the enjoyment of the game of soccer for our middle school aged kids.
Our Middle School program offers the following:
1. Management of this program will include registration of players and coaches, season scheduling, tournament scheduling and rules of the league.
2. Better Communication before, during and after each playing season. Open door policy for comments and suggestions for the program.
3. Better fee rates for registration/insurance and background screening for coaches/staff.
4. Help finding places for teams to practice and play games if they do not have a home field.
5. And above all, a better organized league.
Teams will still be formed as they are now, by the local coaches/schools. Teams will still select their uniform to represent their school. AYSO will set up a registration page in Area 5B Portal of Sports Connect for you to register your players, register your volunteer coaches/staff and pay your registration fee. Team Managers will oversee their team fees and any various other fees like currently. Once registered in our Sport Connect system, players and coaches/staff will be covered by insurance and background screening will begin on staff. We can also help with any training for new coaches that might need some. We require coaches to take Safe Sports, AYSO Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Training and TN Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training at our online training site EtrainU for free. We encourage you to join and participate in a new program that will serve all middle school players as we strengthen this program to benefit everyone involved. This middle school program is not affiliated with Knox County Schools. If you have questions, please reach out to AYSO Area Director, Michael Mays ([email protected]).
